The 29th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 featured a thrilling battle between the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings and the Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday, April 19.

The game saw Chennai script yet another comfortable win at the tournament, as the side won the game by seven wickets and retained their third spot in the IPL points table with eight points from six games. Skipper MS Dhoni did not feature with the bat; however, the 41-year-old had an eventful outing in the first innings.

Aiden Markram was dismissed after Dhoni took a fabulous catch behind the stumps. However, despite a brilliant catch, Dhoni was denied the ‘Best Catch of the Match’ award as it was won by Ruturaj Gaikwad for dismissing Harry Brook.

Talking about not getting the award, in the post-match presentation, MS Dhoni said:

"Still, they didn't give me the best catch. I felt it was a fantastic catch. I was in such a wrong position. Just because we wear gloves, people think it's easy. A long time ago, I still remember one game - Rahul Dravid was keeping, and he caught one like that. With your skillset, you can't take a catch like that. You have to be in a very wrong position to be able to take that kind of a catch."

Chennai Super Kings registered fourth win of the IPL 2023

Sunrisers Hyderabad were limited to a score of 134 after 20 overs in their clash against Chennai. Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was exceptional for the hosts in the first innings, taking three wickets and conceding just 22 runs in the four overs he bowled.

During the run chase, Devon Conway continued his sensational form as the 31-year-old scored 77* runs in 57 deliveries. Furthermore, Ruturaj Gaikwad amassed 35 runs to his name as well. The opening stand was crucial for Chennai as they registered their fourth win of the IPL 2023 after winning the game by seven wickets.
