The 18th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 saw the defending champions Gujarat Titans take on the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali on Thursday, April 13, and the game saw the veterans Wriddhiman Saha and David Miller reach a major milestone in the tournament.

Both batters completed 2,500 runs in the IPL with their knocks against Punjab Kings in Gujarat’s latest win in Mohali. During the run chase, Saha scored 30 runs in 19 deliveries, whereas Miller amassed 17* off 18 balls.

After the game, Saha now has 2513 runs in 148 IPL matches, whereas Miller has 2505 runs in 108 matches. Being well-established batters in Gujarat’s lineup, both Saha and Miller provide some much-needed firepower that could be integral for the defending champions in their quest to go all the way once again.

Shubman Gill propelled GT to an emphatic victory

Talking about the game, Punjab’s top order failed to make an impact as both Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh failed to score big as both batters collectively amassed eight runs on the board. 27-year-old Australian batter Matt Short was the highest run-getter for Punjab, as he scored 36 runs in 24 deliveries.

Furthermore, following decent knocks by the middle order, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side managed to post 153 runs on the board after 20 overs. During the run chase, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha provided Gujarat with a brisk start.

Gill’s knock was influential for the defending champions as the 23-year-old amassed 67 runs in 49 deliveries, and his brilliant innings dismantled the hosts’ bowling attack. In the final over, Gujarat needed seven runs, and after Sam Curran dismissed Gill, Rahul Tewatia’s boundary sealed the win for the defending champions. After the game, Gujarat find themselves third in the IPL points table with six points after four games. On the other hand, Punjab Kings dropped down to sixth with four points in four matches.
